On a recent cross-country tour, my family was craving a good solid burger. Sick of fast food, we wanted something a little more diner-like and googled our options as we approached from Alabama. We found Mr Rodgers neighborhood right downtown in Meridian and it was exactly what we were looking for. Straightforward burgers and fries, and a decent price. The artistic vibe of the interior was an added bonus and helped us relax for a moment before getting back on the road.
These are local folks doing a great job, the burgers are great along with those chilly cheese fries !!
What ever happened to the traditional American diner? Well it's not dead but it's gone undercover at places like Mr Rodgers. The American Diner wasn't about phenomenal outlandish food, it was simple and honest food that was done right. Good food. No crazy milkshake concoctions or funky burgers with buns made from birthday cake. Our burgers were good, priced well, we got in and out quickly. This is what road trip Americana was all about and it's still alive and well, if you care to look for it! And we do look for it!
If you haven't had a biscuit or burger from here then get in your car right now and go see what your missing. Love this place and not overpriced!
A locally own restaurant that serves hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, dogs, chicken tenders and breakfast items. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. 4 Stars on Food - I've eaten different salads and burgers and sandwiches. All are good and cooked or prepared fresh. Get the tots or onion rings instead of fries with the meal. Breakfast are basic sandwiches or plates. Good meals to fill your stomach and get you going in the day. 4 Stars on Staff. Fast and friendly. Place has a drive thru but can get really busy in the morning or lunch time. Place has about 20 tables or so with plenty of seating at each table. Ambiance is low key and has a "blue collar" vibe which is GREAT!
